Who you are...

  • Experience with Tax Provision, Tax Return, and Public Utility (preferred).
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills. Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research accounting and tax issues independently and communicate conclusions effectively in both oral and written means.

What you'll be working on...

  • Prepares and files consolidated federal and corresponding state tax returns.
  • Compiles supporting financial statements, disclosures, and documents as it relates to current and deferred income taxes.
  • Assists with state sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, excise tax, etc., in the company’s and subsidiaries’ tax jurisdictions.
  • Performs tax research, develop resolutions and present findings to management.
  • Prepares account reconciliations, including the timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items.
  • Assists the Manager - Financial Reporting and Tax Compliance in the preparation of quarterly and annual subsidiary financial statements and state commission reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, federal/state-specific utility regulation, internal controls and Company policies and practices.
  • Prepares journal entries and assists in analyzing financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists the Manager - Financial Reporting and Tax Compliance in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provision.
  • Assists the Regulatory team in fulfilling rate case requests and analyses for filings and/or other tax reporting requirements.
